About 30 minutes east of Reno is Reno-Fernley Raceway, located on Highway 95A just south of Fernley, Northern Nevada’s new hot bed of motor sports and recreation activities. The complex came into being in 1998, part of a 3000 acre master plan project. The 500 acre motor sports complex started to take form when one of the employees, a motor cross rider, asked if he could build a motor cross track on the southern section of the property. Soon after the modification of a natural bowl in the terrain started to change it into a 3/8 mile dirt oval. The facility enlisted the aid of Fred Nagle, a partner, who designed dirt tracks in California, at Chico and Susanville. The track has matured into one of the finest clay/dirt surfaces in the Western United States. Every other week during the season there is a stock car and IMCA modified show, 3/8 Open Wheel Modifieds, and Vintage Midgets, Sprint 360's on alternate weekends. In 2003, the paved road course opened with 1.2 miles, and by mid 2004 it had been extended to 2.3 Miles. By mid 2005, we will have added another 2 miles, making it one of the longest road courses in the United States. The road course is a host to races and club events by HMSA, NASA, Porsche, Audi, and many more sports car clubs and motorcycle groups. It is also residence to full time driving and motorcycle schools. Street Drags are held once a month at the road course drag strip, which features a 1/4 mile strip with trees and timing. There are more exciting special events coming up this season at the Reno-Fernley Raceway including Mud Bogs, and Sand Drags. Plans are being made for many additional improvements to the Raceway in the upcoming years. We hope that they will make your visits more enjoyable. In addition, we will strive to provide the Northern Nevada area with the quality motor sports entertainment they have become accustomed to. In closing, thank you for your continued support of Reno-Fernley Raceway. We hope you will visit us many times this coming season. Let's go racing!
